AQL & pre-shipment inspection, explained

Understand sampling plans, defect classes and inspection stages to define acceptance requirements.

Define the inspection lot

Document quantity, batch, specification, approved sample, packaging and timing. Incoming, during-production, pre-shipment and loading checks address different stages.

Agree the sampling plan

Agree the standard edition, inspection level, defect classes, sampling method and acceptance rules with the inspection provider. AQL is a sampling-plan parameter, not a promise about the defective share of a shipment.

Make defects measurable

Define critical, major and minor defects for the intended use. Specify tolerances, functional tests and packaging checks. Agree separate safety testing where needed; visual sampling alone is insufficient.

Handle failed inspections

Retain evidence and agree segregation, rework, replacement and reinspection responsibilities. Do not release goods on an obsolete report. Sampling acceptance does not replace required product testing.
